VoLTE Continues to Drive VoIP and IMS Growth

[_Title]

VoLTE services continue to drive growth for both VoIP and IMS equipment manufacturers, according to a new report set to be published by Infonetics Research.

A number of mobile carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon have announced plans to launch or are in the process of expanding their current VoLTE service offerings throughout the remainder of 2014.

"There will be additional launches in 2014 by large and small providers alike that will hit the bottom line, but mobile does not completely dominate the picture," notes Diane Myers, principal analyst for VoIP, UC, and IMS at Infonetics Research.

"Voice over LTE (VoLTE) continues to positively impact the service provider VoIP and IMS equipment market, though we look for the market to slow this year as operators commercially launch services and draw down capacity built over the past year," Myers continued.

Among the highlights of the report:

  • Core IMS and voice application server segments - posted the strongest growth in 1Q14, driven by VoLTE activity in the large North American and Asian markets
  • All regions up on a year-over-year basis - Asia Pacific and North America form the foundation for the IMS rise due to activity from mobile operators
  • Alcatel-Lucent the standout vendor - due to strong growth of core IMS and voice application server revenue, particularly in North America
