Days after JetBlue launched it's Sky-Fi service on Wi-Fi equipped planes, the company announced they will join the other major airlines and not allow voice or video calls.

The Federal Communications Commission recently proposed allowing cellular coverage on planes but it would be up to airlines to determine if customers could make calls during flights.

JetBlue was the only major U.S. carrier not taking the hard line against voice calls, giving heavy mobile users a glimmer of hope they could chat away flight time, but after hearing from its customers, the company will join the voluntary ban.

"We've heard from many customers and the majority have shared that they do not want voice or video calls allowed on board," JetBlue said in a statement. "We currently do not allow customers to use VOIP on board. Our in flight team will enforce this as they would enforce any other on board policy."

In their statement JetBlue was also promoting their Sky-Fi as the first in-flight wireless system with enough capacity to support online video viewing.
