Marco Fiorentino, co-founder of Messagenet, an internet-based telecom service provider says traditional and mobile calling will be replaced by VoIP services.

"In 10 to 15 years phone numbers will not be the complex at the time. I think a link that is easy to remember, in the long run, is going to be the way that you reach people," Fiorentino said.

Messagenet's new service Mtalk.net, provides individual users and companies with personalized internet addresses with URLs that can be clicked on to make calls or send text messages via PCs, smartphones or tablets.

"We think that fixed-lines will be around for some time but there is no question that there is going to be a slow substitution of traditional fixed-line or voice calls on mobile with this type of application. But it’s going to be a very long process" Fiorentio continued in his interview with Mobile News.

Mtalk.net is currently offered as a free service but there are business risks involved with the VoIP calls not encrypted.

As Messagenet ramps it's customer base businesses will most likely not adopt the solution as a viable an enterprise solution. Fiorento did mention that there could be a paid service in the future to address such security concerns.
